Later while choking down stew the young Milo thinks what boiled gobbling would taste like, Milo is interrogated by the blacksmiths wife.
“Milo where are you from”?
“I came over from Kibbers. I heard about the festival, wanted to see what’s what”.
“Oh, that’s nice, so many people here for the festival. Lots of work for my husband to get done with all the armor fixing and such”.
“Yes Ma’am, seen him working on lots of nice armor”.
“Milo is you Farther a blacksmith too”?
“ No Ma’am, never met my Dad, my Mother passed from Red fever before I was two. She was kitchen maid for Earl Malex, after she died he had my Pa and Ma raise me. My Pa is the Earl’s blacksmith”.
“Oh, that’s sad about your Mother”.
“I never knew her but Pelor smiled on me when he gave me my Pa and Ma”.
“Well its very brave of you to strike out on your own just to see a festival”.
“To be honest, I left because my Pa said I should. You see I use to have to be the spar with the boys from the keep. My Pa said I was starting to get good, too good. Pa said I might have to join the Earl levies soon. I’m not too much for soldiering so I decided to see what the festival is all about”.
“Oh my, well, how do you like the stew”?
