“What are you doing?”
“Ellis. I would think it is obvious”
“Well, of course it is obvious what you are doing. Perhaps my question should be why are you doing that?”
“I’m pretty much the only one in this group that uses a bow on a regular basis, so it’s a good thing to keep practicing”
“While you are fully capable of keeping us well fed with your bow throughout our travels, so I’m not so sure the practice for that is still needed”
“It’s very useful in fights as well”
“Normally, I would agree. When the target is flying or hovering it is the first line of offense. However, we have been granted the ability to rise up to them through magic.”
“We can’t always rely on that to be the answer”
“Agreed. But I’m not sure your bow will be the answer either. No more than mine. We are both skilled, but it will not sway the battle.”
“However, –”
“and I’m not the only one to notice you have foregone your bow and drew your blades at every opportunity since I have fought by your side.”
“It seems to be more useful.”
“It is. And your skills have vastly improved. With a slight bit of adjusting, you will be that much better with the blade.
I would ask that you reduce your bow practice and work with me on the finer points of battle to allow us to communicate and react to each other with ease. Improving your flanking, looking for better opportunities for your blade, and combatting the largest foes with a combined focus.”
“And you can teach me this?”
“You already have most of the skill, you just need minor adjustments and focus. Yes, I can teach you.
Set your bow aside, Strem, and draw your blades as you do in battle”
