“Imar, my Dwarvin friend, glad to find you here. Let me get us a couple of pints. Marrin, couple of pints if you please.”
“Danke schon, you get kicked by another pony or did you finally sell the old buckskin nag you’ve been feeding all year?”
“ Neither, by the way before I forget, I’ll be needing 2 dozen shoes from you. No I hear the some strangers in town, the adventuring type. That usually means a little extra coin for an honest horse trader.”
“Har Har Har, My apologizes Ned, you be as honest as they come , but I’ve met you new prospects, might be more profit in selling that nag.”“ Oh really, how so.”
“Well now. they came by the forge yesterday. Odd bunch, six of them. Four humans, a big fella with the stench of orc in him and dwarf for the western clans. All in all what those types are mostly about, asking this and that, until the tall one, who seem to be in charge started spouting on about heading to the swamp and chasing after that dragon. He went on like some kind of crazed Jack of Spades, spouting on and on about what I was going to do. I think he was a bit daft because he couldn’t seem get words to come out of his mouth in any understandable order. I think he wanted me to do something but I wasn’t sure if it was to stop him from going or make him one of those new sipinnie toys some of the droolers like to hold and flick. He got so unhinged that some of his fellows decided to move on, especially when he started to froth a bit. His mightiness finally wandered off yelling about a gem tax.”
“Ouch, What was this birds name?”
“I believe the was calling himself, Lord Fordquard of something akin to it.”
“ Well then mayhap you better make it only a dozen shoes, oh and get the next pint.”
“Done.”
“So, no chasing dragons for you.”
“Well my friend, my kind and swamps don’t mix, stubby legs you know. Now if they had been going to chase giants in the Deep I may had sharpened to axe and made room on the wall for a surprised looking giant head”
“Well that would have been a trophy. Well hears to a tax of gems and dragon heads!’
