    Week 12- What’s this about?

Staring across the field, we can see another portal off in the distance. Something about it seems off. I hear Cryl behind me ask, “what’s this about?” Followed by, he that reminds me of a good joke.

I can hear Cryl laughing as he tells his joke. It’s not the same creepy laugh he has when he is slaughtering things, it’s loud and joyful. The kind of laugh that begs you to join in. I’ve heard him tell this joke before. Most other humans think it’s hilarious. I don’t really get it, hobbit uncles are often at parties but mostly too drunk to do anything. I chuckle anyway, because as Cryl hits the punch line, ‘what’s this about?’ his knee slapping and uproarious laughter is funny in itself.

Beck shakes his head, though I can see him smiling too. I suppose he’s got bigger things on his mind. I’m hopeful that between him, Zor and Hocho they figure what kind of weird maze we are in.

We set up camp and managed to make it through the night unharmed. Grim puts together a decent breakfast for us and it’s pretty tasty though I don’t know where he gets the ingredients. He certainly hasn’t left the campsite to go hunting. No complaints from any of us though as we finish eating and get ready to head for the portal.

Krex and Cryl seem to be getting anxious to be on our way. Hocho still stares at the portal some hundred yards away with a concerned look on his face.

“What do you think Hocho?” I ask.

“Something is off Tippy. There is strong magic at work here and I think it is not the good kind of magic.”

Eventually boredom over takes caution and planning and we head out for the portal. Something is off indeed. The grounds leading to the portal quickly turn into a field of lava and shooting flames. Stone golems appear from nowhere but don’t yet seem to be a threat. The only thing that hasn’t changed is the portal. Off in the distance, showing the exit to this place. But, yet, something just isn’t right…

    Week 13- My final entry

No I don’t plan on dying. Hell, I can probably escape just about anything at this point. Plus my friends seem to like having me around and probably would do just about anything to keep this Hobbit above ground.

Nah, it’s just story telling isn’t my thing I suppose. Sitting around the campfire, retelling the days events just gets me blank stares at this point. From time to time I’ll get a nod or a rollin of the eyes but no real feedback. Makes for some uncomfortable moments.

Perhaps my time can be better spent catching an extra bit of shut eye.

As I sign off though, a special hurrah and thanks to Hocho, Beck and Zor for saving Cryl from dying at the hands of the stone golems. We’re gonna need him.

Perhaps the great voice in the sky will continue to update our story from time to time. Let’s hope!

It’s good that you keep an eye on everyone, thank you. By the way, I thought all halflings were outstanding cooks, where the rabbit and tater stew?

Guilty as charged but it’s nice having a breakdown of the battles.

    Taters? What’s taters?

I apologize on my part Tippy for my lack of engagement. I have been struggling mightily with what we did in the city. I don’t blame you or the others, but I am responsible. How does one hold oneself accountable for violating every principle you hold dear without just flinging yourself off the nearest cliff? But that’s the coward’s way out and I am no coward. So in my fits of introspection, I have done more damage by not acknowledging your work and appreciating the effort required. Forgive me, my friend. This gauntlet we’ve been running has been surreal and I tire of it so. The flavor of it has grown dead on my tongue and my performance has suffered for it. I pray we reach the end soon.

It’s all good. Trust me, I’m not butt hurt about it. We are all busy (except for Ron), including me.

Ah, yes, I am guilty as well.
I read, chuckle, and enjoy each of the posts. However, since I do that at home, you cannot see my enjoyment and I have failed to provide you with a single bit of support to let you know the appreciation.

Thanks for the updates to this point. They were appreciated.
