Before leaving Jo’har’s Keep, a band of minstrels arrive, led by a boastfully humble bard named Cedrick. They kick up the celebration and songs are written of the tales of the great standoff that protected the keep from the red-eyed beasts coming from The Gate, the mouth of the Savage Land.
The next morning the heroes of the battle leave, heading back to Lokistan with Crystle Aryn, the forthright daughter of Raith and Saraphina Aryn, a prestigious house in the hierarchy of Kraymorden politics. She had been a summer visitor of Jo’har’s Keep, arriving before the 3-day ride became perilous.
The heroes encounter a group of goblins, that they pass without encounter, those of Kraymorden recognizing them as the many found trading across the land.
They are then met on the road by a small host of men, carrying the seal of House Aryn, claiming they were sent to Jo’har’s Keep to retrieve the daughter. The riders, led by Macklin of House Bartoe, say the seal is only to be opened by Jo’har, but since they’ve encountered the party on the road they will take responsibility of young Crystle. Even before she informs Hocho that her father has no love for this man, the heroes refuse him.
Battle ensues, four Bartoe men and half-orcs fall, and Macklin surrenders and is taken before he can escape.
After searching the fallen, they find on the rogue and others:

Bah, these clowns should have just listened, but now they’ll spend the rest of their lives being dead.
I wasn’t real excited about taking Crystal with us, but as soon as we set out she was in our charge. Somebody else is going to die before she gets touched – just won’t happen on my watch.Not gonna lie, I’m looking forward to dropping her off with her mama and having some serious ales.
Somebody please tell me why we didn’t give them the girl when they asked. She doesn’t stop complaining… eh ver. Constantly about how bad the dwarves smell. Okay, she’s not wrong, but really, shut Up already.
As those tools were “the toughest thing on the road”, we get to add that to our banner now.
