I knew Blamar was to blame. It’s in the name after all. Well maybe that’s supposed to be Balmar. Appreciate the update there Doogy…keep em coming.

After saving the Bartender and his daughter we proceeded to rest up before heading through the open portal. We then found ourselves facing a horde of Kindred and a few others with the ability to take on the abilities and traits of others. Unfortunately for us they took on the form of our archer and proceeded to try to kill everyone. Starting with our Archer/Paladin.

The Rogue and the Druid did their best to die but the Paladin’s would have none of it and just kept on saving people. Gravelbeard pointed out many things but for some reason no one seemed to notice.

Despite the walls of fire we seem to have the upper hand.

Per the Doogin’s last post (I believe in 2022) we continue to have these goals:

    The goals:
    1. Stop the Avatars. They are evil.
    2. Find the aging device.
    3. Save the world.

The last ‘Grape Ape’ in the Inn was a tough sob. Well, at least he was, until Leeward in Dire Lion form ripped his leg off. The demon ape then became much more receptive to our repeated blows and before long, his 600 plus hit points were spilled all over the floor.

The Cleric announced he was low on spam so rest was ordered up. We then continued on our path to find and kill the next avatar. We found ourselves in a foyer with two curved staircases meeting in the center and rising up to our left and right.

Evil things lay hidden on the stairs. Invisible and waiting. The rogue, invisible himself, snuck up the stairs and rain into one. We are all pretty sure they both jumped but you couldn’t see anything. Rustling was heard to the left and the right and we knew there were others.

Turns out they were some type of nastier stone giants. They hit hard but our group is used to that and gave as good as we got. Then a nasty spell caster showed up and tried to kill the Rogue. He was nearly successful. He was hit with a fiery fire that caused him to light up and think twice about taking on Gravelbeard face to face.

The stone giants are pretty well taking care of and now we hunt the spell caster at the top of the stairs….

As it turns out the invisible giants and even the spell caster were not the most dangerous enemies in the area. Milo made an end run up the top the stairs to get the rear of the battle with the cleric only to find an Archer, a Bard and a Dragon in the room above.

C-Kane the wizard one, neutralized them the best he could with walls of fire and then we set about splitting into 3 different groups fighting all 3 enemies at once. ALWAYS a good strategy.

The Dragon turned invisible which would normally be a huge advantage but to his surprise, a couple of our tanks have blind fighting keeping the fight fair. The Bard is dead but the fight with the dragon and the archer rage one.

We close in on the climax of this epic adventure….

We slow played the battle since we were down a Milo and a K-Cane. The Doogin called it retreating…BAH!

A giant, two stone constructs and the archer were behind a wall of force at the back of the room. The giant wanted to talk and since Milo wasn’t there to ‘talk’ to him, we gave the Gnome a crack at it. That went about as well as you would expect.

Running on fumes we decided to retreat, eventually finding ourselves back at the cave with our comrades. It had been a few days so we filled them in. We also found out that the church in Everton Wells could heal Gravelbeard’s hand.

Next day we flew down the the church. The good types went in to get info and get Gravelbeard’s hand fixed. Snyde and Leeward hid down in the red tunnel across the street.

Once we gathered back together we headed back into the Inn and through the portal. Snyde did some scouting and found out that the stairs past the tunnel were guarded by one of the stone golems and the remaining golem, giant and archer were back up the stairs and in the room where we saw them before.

“SPOON!!!” Could be heard echoing through the halls and we bum rushed the stone golem. This is gonna be a tough one fellas.

Balmar greeted us on the other side of the portal from his location in another plane of existence. A few words of warning and encouragement were followed by a butt ton of very valuable and powerful loot.

Looks like tough sledding ahead. Time to put the big boy pants on fellas and make sure we got tabs of all our nifty magic items. Not the time to be forgetting powerful cloaks and such. :).

I see a number of items in the list which I’m interested in as well.

Have to check the benefits of the armor, and I do like the Bracers.
Both Helen, but have to check in the benefits.

    The Mantle and both rings.

We have some rolling to do.

    Agenda for July 11th, 2023

    1) Fight over who’s turn it is to buy pizza
    2). Buy pizza
3). Go around the room and re-introduce ourselves (It’s been a minute)- Take time to tell us what you did for Independence Day.
4). Try to remember where we left off. We could just check the website but….Oh yeah, pick up pizza.
5). Begin haggling over magic items and rolling dice when appropriate.
6). Realize Tim is not with us. See if we can remember why and where he is.
7). Start looking for evil to slay until we start thinking about b-day pie for Dan (Tim, again, is not there…keep up).
8). Enjoy pie with more funny stories about whatev, then encourage Bren to start the Jameson pours.
9). Toast, followed by a few more swings at taking out an evil being so we feel like we did ‘something’.
    10) Take pictures of the battle we are two rounds into and pack up.

Sounds like a fine night, just the escape from the real that is needed.

    July 18th…The Boss?

We headed up stairs and found ourselves in a long room with a Fallen Angel near full demon status holding court on the opposite end. He had a globe of some sort in his hand, a staff of sorts and the near lifeless body of the minor god Aldawayn at his feet.

Crushing the globe and slamming his staff on the ground caused a wave of aging to overcome the party. It’s really weird to look around and see your friends breakout in age spots and see sprouts of furry hair emerge from their ears. The evil one was also draining power from Aldawayn.

Gravelbeard charged. Not sure if he was more interested in taking down the dark angel or saving Aldawayn. Maybe both. He is a paladin after all.

Thanks to his heroics we quickly found out that several walls between us and the boss had nasty surprises in them. Dispell affects, fire, acid, anti-gravity and an arena type trap. W

We are making our way but getting hammered as we push forward. The next section houses two pedestals with open books on them. We should probably check those out. Aldawayn is already dead…

July 25th, the BOSS is a wuss

Breaking down the final walls caused the Boss to fly away like a little bitch. He did leave behind a room full of Salamanders with growing pools of lava at their feet.

The Lava problem was pretty much solved with fire resistance from the Cleric and Flying provided by the Druid. The Salamanders just need a good ol’ fashioned beat down.

We have a handful of them left but it looks like we can handle them. Gravelbeard found a passage from one of the pedestals, we’ll have to see what that’s all about.

The last wall of force has 4 sigils on it that match sigils on the weapons carried by the 4 largest Salamanders. Two down, two to go…

It’s a Trap! Yep, we know it’s a trap. So, what do we do? CHARGE!!!!

A large dark sphere rest on the ground. A few moments ago it burped out a handful of demon types that headed off for the woods to the East. We flew up to the sphere and gave it a quick once-over.

The circumference of the sphere was protected by a blade barrier so we headed up to the top to drop down inside. The Rogue went first and snuck attacked the Boss bad guy. What a Hero! Well, could have been. Is blade bent back like he was using a rapier on a stone golem. The fallen-angel did some sort of evil belch sending everyone flying with Snyde getting the worst of it.

After being spit out by the food chipper and wiping off the chuncks of flesh and blood, we gathered ourselves and began to head back into the sphere. We are nothing if not pig-headed.

    CHARGE!!
