A couple of clever types started thinking that maybe if Marsus (Nathanex), Alrius and Zandul had history and were all devote followers of Urgathoa, perhaps the ruined temple of Urgathoa and home to Zandul would be a good place to begin looking for the Lich’s phylactery. First however, a quick jaunt to River’s Edge to meet up with Alaris to see if he would confirm this train of thought.

The dragon was fine with taking Phil’s no named character and Blaine to River’s Edge. Gax followed close behind using an overland flight spell while the rest of the party headed to Cinnamon Bay for some R&R.

Although Alaris wasn’t sure he did say that Marsus and Zandul were more of the same mindset when it came to transitioning from just being a cleric of the undead to making the plunge in becoming a Lich. Marsus had spent a great deal of time at the temple before becoming a Lich so, yes, it made sense to him.

Well two breadcrumbs on the same path was the most they had to go on so off to the Eastwood they went. It didn’t take long for them to work their way into the bowels of the temple into a massive burial chamber. Thanks to Gax’s ability to read languages they were able to find the one area that was marked differently than all the rest.

The Riddle was the easy part, deciding how to get rid of a stone sarcophagi took some doing but they managed. A secret passage opened revealing a stair case the lead to the Lich’s hidey hole. 4 Grave Knights guarded the Lich’s resting and rejuvenating spot. The Grave Knights were deadly in their own right but with no Lich to contend with the group made quick work of the foursome and then set about snuffing out the Lich permanently.

All of Mythgar took a sudden sigh of relief. It was if a blanket of evil had been removed and the sunlight found it’s way in to the dark places. Over the next weeks the battles with the undead finished up and celebrations were had in all the towns and cities along the east coast. Bards will for all time, sing songs and tell tales of the heroes who not only did not fear the dead but sought them out to destroy them and save all of Mythgar.

To be the only guy to be shamed in the campaign wrap-up Phil. Mmm mmm mmm.

I lost all love for the campaign when the evil rogue handed over the evil staff to the evil undead and the dancing dwarf died. That and missing 4 weeks can really take the wind out of your sails. Looking forward to a new start.

Are you still mad at Ron or have you moved past that?
